Elvis Presley’s Private Jet Up For Auction: Own A Piece Of Rock And Roll History
Since 1977, the year of his death, Elvis Presley’s 1962 Lockheed Jetstar has been sitting abandon at the Roswell International Air Centre. In need of a little TLC, this beautiful aircraft, which was as luxurious as it gets for its time, is up for auction by GWS Auctions in Beverly Hills.
With bidding starting at $10,000 USD, the expectation for a sale in the millions is well within the realm of possibility. The King of Rock and Roll designed the plush red velvet interior himself, and while the body of the aircraft is a little weathered, requires new engines and some mechanical love, the interior is in pristine condition.
The ultimate Elvis memorabilia collector’s item, GWS Auctions anticipates the winning bid to be in the 2 million to 3.5 million range. This doesn’t include the cost to make this gorgeous jet airworthy again, which makes this purchase not only a wonderful piece of history to own but also a passion project for the owner.
